Scholarships

Fair Scholarship — Usually 4 at $1,500
Sponsored by the North Carolina Association of Agricultural Fairs.
Must be a resident of North Carolina. Scholarships are available in two categories — financial and academic. Some good experience, successes, and recommendations from a local fair group is recommended.

The Robeson Regional Agricultural Fair also provides local scholarships each year — $250 for financial and $250 for academic.

For an application call the Robeson County Center of the North Carolina Cooperative Extension Service at 910-671-3276. The deadline is usually around February 28.

Linwood Singletary Memorial Scholarship — $1,000
Sponsored by the Robeson County Crop Promotion Association and North Carolina Cooperative Extension, Robeson County Center.  Must be a Robeson County, North Carolina, student with a desire to pursue an agricultural-related career.

General H. Hugh Shelton Collegiate Student Leadership Scholarships

The General H. Hugh Shelton Leadership Center awards through various endowments educational scholarships to deserving students to promote the mission of the initiative, “to inspire, educate and develop value-based leaders committed to personal integrity, professional ethics, and selfless service.” All recipients must either be applying to attend North Carolina State University or are already enrolled at the university, depending on the scholarship.

Jim Graham Scholarship — $1,000
Sponsored by the North Carolina Simmental Associations.
Must be a North Carolina student with a desire to pursue an agricultural-related career.

Chicago Mercantile Exchange and the National Cattlemen’s Foundation Scholarship Program — 20 at $1,500
The deadline is usually September 30.

R. Flake Shaw Scholarships — $17,500 in scholarships
Sponsored by the North Carolina Farm Bureau.

For an application, contact your local Farm Bureau in January. Preference will be given to Farm Bureau family members.

The North Carolina Tomato Growers Education Foundation.
The deadline is June 30.

The Veterinary Services staff of the Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service sponsors the Saul T. Wilson, Jr., Scholarship Program (Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences)
The deadline is March 1.

Plant Protection and Quarantine William F. Helms Student Scholarship Program
The deadline is March 1.

Microsoft Scholarship Program
The deadline is January 15.
