This workshop will provide farmers with the basic and the latest information on high-tunnel farming and financial assistance through the United States Department of Agriculture – Natural Resources Conservation Service. The workshop will be taught by Extension Agents and Specialists from Cooperative Extension at North Carolina A&T State University.
Refreshments and Lunch will be provided. After lunch, we will tour a local high-tunnel greenhouse.
Some of the topics will include:
- What are high tunnels and why should I get one?
- How to select crops to grow and market to maximize profit
- How to assess and build soil health
- How to submit a sample and manage nematodes
- How to lay beds with plastic mulch and drip irrigation
- How to grow tomatoes in a high tunnel
