According to Mac Malloy, County Extension Director with North Carolina Cooperative Extension, Robeson County Center, a list of pesticide training opportunities to be held at the O. P. Owens Agriculture Center, 455 Caton Road, Lumberton, has been released. Training will provide two hours of recertification credit towards private applicator and commercial ground applicator licenses. Specific categories are approved for each training as listed below. Private applicators (farmers) must receive all required recertification credits by September 30 if their certification expires in 2022. Applicator credit status can be checked online.

Private Applicator Soil Fumigation Z – Training Friday, September 23

8:30 a.m. – 9:30 a.m. (Online) Register for the Zoom Meeting

Training will provide an overview of certification requirements, label changes, fumigation management plans and best management practices for fumigant use.

Private Applicator Recertification V Training –Tuesday, September 27

10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. (in person) Register online using Google Forms

7:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. (Online) Register for the Zoom meeting

Training will provide private applicators an update on new label changes and restrictions, protection of pollinators, FieldWatch/Driftwatch, Auxin Herbicides, Worker Protection Standard Revisions, and Pesticide Safety Reminders. This training is approved for two (2) hours of category V credit.

Pesticide Hazards and First Aid Tuesday, September 27

1:00 p.m.- 3:00 p.m. (in person) Register using Google Forms

Training will provide an overview of the hazards associated with the mixing, loading, application, and disposal of pesticides. We will discuss pesticide exposures, symptom recognition, and first aid for poisoning. This training is approved for two (2) hours of category A, B, D, G, H, I, K, L, M, N, O, T, X credits.
