Would you like to grow your own vegetables? Have you noticed the price of groceries lately? Have you been paying attention to all the flooding in California, where so much of our national produce is grown? It seems to me we should all be growing a few things in what space we have to offset our dependence on our traditional food supply. Perhaps you purchase locally available transplants but can’t find a particular variety you would like to grow.
If you answered yes to any of these questions, you might like to sharpen your seed-starting skills. We will discuss seed biology, seed selection, substrate or germination mix, hardening off seedlings for successful transplanting, and some common difficulties starting your own seed.
