To Whom It May Concern:
On behalf of the planning committee, I am writing you today to ask for your support for our second annual Robeson County Agricultural Awareness Days. The three-day event, scheduled for October 14-16, 2024, is a partnership between North Carolina Cooperative Extension, Robeson County Center; Robeson County Farm Bureau, Women’s Committee; AgCarolina Farm Credit; North Carolina Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services; and the Public Schools of Robeson County. This hands-on educational opportunity will be offered to all third graders in Robeson County, approximately 1800 students.
Did you know more than 70 percent of youth do not know where their food comes from? Much less the importance of crops, pollinators, and animals in their daily health and nutrition. The goal of the Robeson County Agricultural Awareness Days is to educate third-grade students on the importance and contribution of agriculture in our everyday lives. Students will have the opportunity to visit ten specialized stations; corn, small grains, cotton, soybean, poultry. beekeeping, horticulture, dairy, livestock, and nutrition. At each station, students will be able to engage in hands-on learning that will pique their curiosity and help them process the importance of agriculture in their everyday lives.
How can you be a part of this incredible learning event? Enclosed is a sponsorship form that gives you information about the levels of sponsorship. Each student will leave with a bag that will include information about our sponsors. We want to make sure each participant and their guardians know that your organization cares about educating their child on agriculture.
Please know, with every dollar you invest in this program you will be positively influencing not just a child’s growing knowledge, but helping that child share this new knowledge of agriculture with their family. With the majority of the population removed from agriculture, it is our hope this event will promote agriculture literacy among third-grade students and highlight the valuable role agriculture plays in almost everything we eat, wear, and use. Your support and generosity would be greatly appreciated. If you need additional information, please call me at 910-671-3276 or email me at taylor_chavis@ncsu.edu. I look forward to working with you soon as part of this incredible educational event for youth.
